How much will I receive in wage replacement benefits in South Carolina?

If your work injury causes you to miss work, South Carolina workers’ compensation provides temporary disability benefits, but there is a 7-day waiting period before wage replacement begins. If you are totally disabled for more than 14 consecutive days, benefits are retroactive to the first day. For Temporary Total Disability (TTD), if you are completely unable to work, you receive two-thirds (66⅔%) of your average weekly wage (AWW), tax-free, up to the state maximum, which is $1,189.94 as of January 1, 2026. For Temporary Partial Disability (TPD), if you return to work in a reduced capacity (light duty) and earn less, you receive two-thirds of the difference between your pre-injury AWW and your current earnings, also subject to the state maximum; these benefits continue while you remain disabled or until you reach maximum medical improvement (MMI).
