In 2010, 33 percent of deaths among those ages 13 to 19 years old involved a motor vehicle accident (MVA), according to DoSomething.org. In addition, DoSomething.org reported that on average, with each additional passenger, death rates involving MVAs among 16 and 17-year-old drivers increase.
A recent auto accident in Greenville, South Carolina claimed the life of a 19-year-old girl, according to WHNS-TV. Prior to the crash, the 19-year-old was traveling south on White Horse Road in a car with three other teens. For reasons the South Carolina Highway Patrol is trying to figure out, the car lost control, leading it to run off the road, hit another vehicle and crash into a gas pump at Spinx.
The 19-year-old girl was the only person killed in the wreck. The other three teens in her vehicle were injured in the crash and had to be taken to the hospital for treatment. There were two people in the vehicle that the teens’ car hit. The passenger in that vehicle was hurt in the wreck and had to be taken to Greenville Memorial Hospital for treatment.
